Last Sunday I spontaneous went on a small hike in the nearby Appenzellerland. I chose an easy trail starting in Teufen AR, up to the Waldegg (with it’s famous Schnuggenbock Restaurant) and then over to Speicher AR. The good thing about this destinations was, that from St. Gallen there is a direct train to Teufen, and also from Speicher there is a train back to the city.
The hike took me about 1 1/2 hours (exclusive the time for a beer at the Schnuggenbock Restaurant
). It’s really an easy hike, but with a lot of amazing views to the Appenzellerland, the Alpstein mountains and even to the Bodensee (Lake of Constance). The trail follows the official Swiss national hiking trail #22 (it’s also along the “Appenzeller Kulturpfad”)
