Recently I struggled a little with un-publishing my public WordPress Blog to a local MAMP environment, for local testing purposes before I apply big changes (as it should be). There are actually only some minor things to consider, in order to properly get a WordPress installation running locally.

After a few days downtime, my Blog is up again. I took the (forced) offline time to switch to a new Theme. One of the goals was to bring a little bit more of a “personal touch” to it, as this is my personal blog. With the random header images (try reloading the page!) I want to represent some areas of interests and topics I write about here.

Without the Macintosh Computer, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I wouldn’t know what I know today. I wouldn’t be as open minded, customer focused as I am today. Working with the Apple Mac shifted my mindset to “Think Different” in terms of thinking in a simple way and not to go the complicated way.
It started in the 1990′s when I first got my hands on the Apple Macintosh. Being a proud owner of my own Mac and living in a household where the Apple Macintosh was the computer deviced used.
Following with my own iMac in later years, in continous competition with friends defending the status and value of Microsoft PCs. Not letting me get caught by it’s attraction back then, but sticking to the Mac for years.
Initiating my first experiences in the Internet, developing small scripts and later applications on it. Finding lifetime friends who share the same love to Macs.
Making me think of working at Apple would be the goal of my life and meeting this man a great personal honor and inspiration.
Getting professionally creative and productive at a later stage by building and publishing everything from Webservers, Websites to important term papers for my educational career.
Bringing my advanced knowledge of computer use in my daily work, enjoying the simplicity and comfortability of the Mac and Mac OS X at home.
Improving my performance with the iPhone in recent years, moving myself away from the mindset that a phone is “only” to be used as a phone.
I am really proud of the way I went with the Macs and Apple in the past. And I will continue to do so – standing above any minor downsides or obstacles to overcome. Keeping the innovative thinking, the “different” thinking, the easyness and simplicity always in my mind and trying to apply this in my daily work and life.
Thank you Steve Jobs, for making this possible. Thank you Apple, for keeping it going like this forever.
On my new corporate computer installed with Windows 7 OS, these two things bugged me from the very beginning: how can I remove this unnecessary “Libraries” folder from the desktop (still didn’t figure out what it is for) and how I can disable these window preview hovers (because I know in which window I have what information).
It turned out that I am definitely not alone with both requests – at least that’s what Google told me when querying these topics. But more suprised I was about the fact, that both settings need to digg into the RegEdit and are not standard OS features.

Since some weeks my iPhone 4 started to act strange in terms of showing a popup message whenever it lost the cellular network:
First I thought th is behaviour might be intended and was probably introduced with the latest iOS update. Asking my friends about it, it turned out that this is definitifly NOT normal.
Recently I discovered, that my external hard drive for Time Machine backups is slowly running out of space – only ~20 GB left on a 320GB drive.
Searching through the web I did not find any up-to-date help on how to properly remove old backups in order to have more space available. But when trying the most easy and obvious way, I figured out that’s how Apple intended to do it:
