OS X: Remove delay of the Dock

OS X Leopard Terminal Icon

Mit folgendem Befehl im Terminal.app lässt sich die kurze Verzögerung entfernen, bevor das ausgeblendete Dock angezeigt wird (sofern man es natürlich standardmässig ausgeblendet hat):

defaults write com.apple.Dock autohide-delay -float 0 && killall Dock

defaults delete com.apple.Dock autohide-delay && killall Dock

Getting myself into a Christmas mood

Merry ChristmasHere are a few things that I totally need in order to be in a perfect christmas mood:

There must be snow!

  1. Walking in the snow (best at night when it is snowing)
  2. Eating Swiss Fondue/Raclette in a cosy hut (walking there through the snow :) )
  3. Drinking “Glühwein” (mulled wine) outside in the cold, snowy streets
  4. Visiting Swiss mountain towns where there is lots of snow (Davos, Klosters, Saas Fee, Bergün, Brigels/Laax/Flims, Appenzell, etc.)
  5. Going skiing or sledging in the Swiss mountains

Hiking in Switzerland… and more

If you want to go hiking, biking, skating or even kayaking in Switzerland, I can definitely recommend the amazing map and trip planning website Wanderland.ch (find the interactive map @ map.wanderland.ch)!

The map and trails are free to view. Unfortunately you do have to register for 30 Swiss Francs per year in order to have access to the planning tool for highlighting & saving your desired tracks, and get additional information like altitude, distance and time to walk/bike of a tour – but it’s absolutely worth it! When registered, you can even share your tracks with friends, so they can see where the tour will go and print the map.

Just want to share this, because I “fell in love” with it today ;)

And at this point I also want to share with you the following beautifully created map, found on gaebris.ch,  which shows an unusual view on the whole eastern part of Switzerland with it’s most prominent cities and mountains:
